La Heredia, also known as La Perla de la Heredia, is located approximately 3
kilometres inland from
San Pedro de Alcantara. It lies on the road between San
Pedro and
Ronda at the foot of the Sierra Blanca Mountains. It is a sleepy
village with a rustic Spanish charm. Yet it is close enough to enjoy the lively
activities on offer in the likes of
Marbella and
Puerto Banus. It is well
situated with stunning views of the surrounding landscape.
Main Tourist Attractions
La Heredia has two communal pools for residents and guests to enjoy. It is also
superbly close to several beaches where you can relax in the warm sun or take
part in some water sports. Those who love nature will love the fact that the
district is located in the countryside and is ideal for walking, hiking or
mountain biking. San Pedro offers opportunities to turn back time; it boasts a
3rd century Roman bath house and a 6th century basilica, complete with a
necropolis. A short journey will take you to the thriving resort of Marbella
where there are beaches, parks and quaint squares to sit and watch the world go
by. Puerto Banus is worth a visit just to stand in awe at the amazing yachts
moored in its massive marina. There is also a multiplex cinema and a marine
observatory to enjoy.
Shopping Opportunities
The district has several shops which cater for the holiday essentials of
visitors and every day needs of residents. You can purchase items such as
sunglasses, towels, foot wear, sporting goods, clothing and souvenirs. San Pedro
holds a market which is popular with tourists. Here you can buy anything from
spices to shoes for a reasonable price. Marbella offers the
Golden Mile with its
stretch of designer boutiques and upmarket fashion outlets. Puerto Banus also
has a shopping centre located by the marina.
Eating out and Nightlife
La Heredia has several superb eateries where you can enjoy some flavoursome
Spanish dishes and locally produced wines. The nearby village of
Benahavis is a
must for foodies. It has an amazing choice of restaurants, cafés and bars for
such a small area. It has establishments that cater for every taste and budget.
There are no nightclubs or discos in La Heredia, but you are only a short trip
from either Marbella or Puerto Banus to enjoy a lively night out. Many of the
bars, nightclubs and discos offer live music and karaoke. Puerto Banus is also
home to one of the few casinos in the Costa del Sol and provides live shows in
the summer months.
