Puerto de Cabopino is a small urbanised area that forms part of the larger
Calahonda urbanised area near the resort of
Marbella. It has a small marina and
a stretch of wonderfully clean beaches. It has limitations on development and so
you will find only a small number of exclusive villas and apartments in the
urbanised area. It is a haven for those who love to relax on the beach or take
part in water activities.
Main Tourist Attractions
As mentioned, Puerto de Cabopino has several beach areas which are usually
uncrowded, even during the summer months. Visitors can choose to relax on a
sunbed and buy snacks from the many chiringuitos (beach bars) that lie along the
beach area. There are also exclusive nudist areas for those who like to get back
to nature. Water sport activities available include water skiing, jet skiing,
parasailing, windsurfing and diving. The long stretch of beach has lifeguards on
duty during the summer months to ensure the safety of visitors. Golfers can take
a short journey in any direction and will soon come across some of the best
courses in the Costa del Sol region. Puerto de Cabopino offers activities such
as swimming, tennis, badminton and volleyball.
Shopping Opportunities
The area of Puerto de Cabopino has a small range of shops that cater for most
tourists needs. You can buy everyday essentials and some souvenirs. Calahonda
is a larger shopping area for those who simply must spend all day shopping. It
has two commercial shopping centres where you will find items including
clothing, leather goods, perfume, art, pottery, jewellery, linen, shoes and
electrical goods.
Fuengirola also has a shopping centre and no shopper can
resist taking the quick trip to
the Golden Mile in Marbella. Exclusive boutiques
and internationally recognised designer labels await the serious shopper here.
Eating out and Nightlife
Puerto de Cabopino has several good restaurants, bars and cafes to choose from.
As well as the usual Spanish dishes such as paella and Tapas, you will find most
eateries cater for those who prefer other cuisines. A mix of British, French,
Italian and Mexican food is available for those who miss their favourite home
dishes.
Evenings are relatively mild compared to those found in the heart of Marbella.
Many people tend to take a stroll past the marina and sit chatting in one of the
fabulous fish restaurants found in the area. Calahonda is the nearest area that
has some livelier establishments located behind the El Zoco shopping centre;
however, for the serious partygoer, Marbella or Fuengirola are a quick bus or
car ride away.
